Games Workshop Crawlocke The Jailor and Chainghasts Warhammer Age of Sigmar

Our Rating: 5 of 5 stars

The Spirit Torment is a fantastic Hero unit for your Games Workshop Warhammer Age of Sigmar Nighthaunt army.  The Spirit Torment is one of those heroes that can find a place in just about any Nighthaunt list.  I also bought a second one off of a popular auction website because I had to be able to run more than one of them. The Spirit Torment is available in either the Warhammer Age of Sigmar: Soul Wars starter set, or as a single model and in a stand alone box as the named character Crawlocke the Jailor.  Crawlocke is a great option to get a second Spirit Torment as the box also comes with a unit of two Chainghasts if you already own the Warhammer Age of Sigmar: Soul Wars starter set.

The Spirit Torment has two abilities of note for boosting your other units like Chainrasp Hordes or Glaivewraith Stalkers. Captured Soul Energy can heal lost wounds or return slain models to a unit at the beginning of the battleshock phase as long as three or more enemy models were slain during the turn in any phase.  Which is important because the models returned come back before any battleshock test are taken. With bravery ten, most nighthuant units rarely fail battleshock tests, but units of larger model counts are more susceptible to failure if they lose a lot of models.  This ability helps ensure you are never failing battleshock test and your units stay as strong as possible. And this ability can be used by as many Spirit Torments as you have in your list for every three enemy models slain during the turn!

The Spirit Torment’s Nagash’s Bidding ability allows any friendly Nighthaunt unit with twelve inches of the Spirit Torment re-roll hit rolls of a one.  This ability makes the Spirit Torment pair great with a Guardian of Souls and his Nightmare Lantern adding one to the wound rolls of friendly Nighthaunt units within nine inches. The Spirit Torment is a must buy for any Warhammer Age of Sigmar Nighthuant army and I highly recommend running more than one if you can fit them in your lists.
